The Examiner

Examinations are carried out by Russell Ford who has been a BSS certified examiner since 1997 Pin No.230.
All boat safety scheme examinations are completely independent and can be arranged at a time convenient to the owner. Examinations are normally carried out at weekends or weekday evenings.
We carry out examinations in South Bucks, Berks, Oxon, Middx and any where on the Thames between Oxford and Staines on all types of craft.
Fees are dependent on boat type and location and start from as little as £130.00 all in.

What is covered in the scheme

The fuel system and engines:- fuel lines, filler and vent pipes, fuel tank and take offs, fuel related items on the engine, fuel filters. Fuel run heaters. Outboards.
The electrical system:- battery compartment, battery connections, master switches, cables, fuses, electric engines.
Fire precautions:- fire extinguisher type, rating, approved markings, condition, number required. Fire blanket.
Gas system:- gas compartment, cylinder connections, flexible hoses, solid gas lines, cookers, water heaters, room heaters, fridges, test point.
Ventilation:- amount of ventilation, appropriate high and low level vents.
Pollution:- outputs for sea toilets.
